काठमाडौं - अहिलेसम्म चित्रकलासम्बन्धी कुनै औपचारिक शिक्षा लिएका छैनन्। कुची चलाउन गुरुका रूपमा कसैले सिकाएका पनि छैनन् तापनि उनका जीवन्त कलाले जोसुकैलाई सजिलै आकर्षित गर्ने सामर्थ्य राख्छ। उनका हरेक
चित्र कुनै वरिष्ठ कलाकारको भन्दा कम छैन। यस्ता अद्वितीय कलाका धनी हुन्, गौरव श्रेष्ठ। उनको सातौं एकल चित्रकला प्रदर्शनी राजधानीमा बिहीबार सम्पन्न भएको छ।
पाटनढोकास्थित यलमाया केन्द्रमा भएको प्रदर्शनीमा सैयौं कलाप्रेमी उनको चित्र हेर्न पुगेका थिए। कलाकार गौरव नयाँ विषयवस्तुमा प्रस्तुत हुन मन पराउँछन्। त्यसैले उनका प्रत्येक चित्रकला प्रदर्शनीमा फरकफरक विषयवस्तु समेटिएको पाइन्छ। यसपटकको प्रदर्शनीमा 'प्रेयर फर ह्युमानिटी' शीर्षकमा २० वटा कोलाज चित्र राखिएका थिए। वास्तवमा उनी एक व्यक्ति भए पनि अनेक शैलीका चित्रकलामा पारंगत छन्।

Artist Gaurav Shrestha's seventh solo collage & mixed media painting exhibition 'Prayer for Humanity' began from Sunday at Yala Maya Kendra, Lalitpur.

Kathmandu: "Sometimes the written texts alone are note sufficent to convey a message, so I have added colours to my creations," said artist Gaurav Shrestha, whose seventh solo art exhibition titled, 'Prayer for Humanity' opened at the Yala Maya Kendra on April 26. The exhibition was inaugurated by litterateur and critic Modanath Prashrit.

subconscious it seemed a labor that
did not need much creativity–any painter
could do it. But when gazed at from
a short distance, the amount of imagination
it took to compose the painting, the
painstaking process to organize the
bits and pieces of paper to form the
mountain, and the ingenuity of thorough
color combination and shades made
this artist’s collage painting an
awesome delight. They stand apart
from the rest at an art exhibition.

Known to give meanings to useless materials, this time Shrestha
has fused music to plastic jute with acrylic paint. He unveiled
his fifth solo collage-painting exhibition called Musical
Reflections on March 10 at the Yala Maya Kendra.

I'm impressed by his works. He's
beautifully chosen and used oil colors on cardboards.
The paintings are simple and the colors soft and eye-soothing.
The interesting part is that he's used cardboard as his
canvas. The collage is fantastic! I've liked his new experiment.
The color composition is also very good.

'It's
like I'm working with the subconscious'

"I have brought
my feelings out in the paintings. I've tried to include day-to-day
activities, people and random figures in my works. When I
start with a collage, I don't know how it will come out. In
a way, it's like I'm working with the subconscious. These
paintings have, therefore, titled towards the abstract,"

have found this young artist Gaurav Shrestha
as a profound, still a restless enthusiast towards artistic
creativity. Since art-work is always judged by the standard
of clarity of expression and newness of creativity, regardless
of media and materials selected for this. Gaurav has discovered
COLLAGE and colour on packing
board to be the best and the simple-most way for moulding
the inner visions into visual forms. Collage
for him is no more a pas-time pleasure of amateur artists,
as used to be taken. With this technique he has interestingly
created unique figurative forms maintaining harmony, balance,
depth, occasionally rendering mosaic illusions.
